Scholarship opportunity at Charles Wood Summer School
The Royal College of Organists is once again offering a scholarship for one student choral conductor to attend the Charles Wood Summer School in Armagh, Northn Ireland.
This prestigious event, for which full details will shortly be available at www.charleswoodss.org, takes place from August 18th to 24th.
The scholarship, which is offered in partnership with the school and is available for one student choral conductor in full time education, will cover the cost of participation and lodging, together with £150 towards the cost of travel, subsistence and study materials. The successful applicant will work with David Hill, Daniel Hyde and Nigel McClintock and events include a choral concert with the Ulster Orchestra, to be recorded by BBC Radio 3, and a BBC Radio 4 Broadcast of Choral Matins. A special programme of events will be negotiated with the award holder. This might include, in addition to choral directing, organ and vocal tuition, and singing in the various summer school choirs.
If you wish to apply please send a short curriculum vitae, an outline of how you think you could benefit from the scholarship, and contact details for two referees, at least one of whom should be able to comment on your choral conducting experience and potential.
Candidates should email their applications to email@example.com by 30 April.
Please note that in addition to studying choral directing the course allows for participation as a singer and/or organist. For accounts of the Summer School written by previous scholars please visit our downloads section here, and look in the section entitled 'Other'.
