We support and promote the delivery of teaching through three channels: our own network of accredited teachers; a series of careful selected national and local initiatives and partnerships; and the maintenance of an independent list of College members who offer private lessons.

RCO Academy accredited teachers

RCO Accredited Teachers (working in support of RCO Academy) offer one-to-one lessons for students of all ages and standards without audition, whether beginner, intermediate or advanced, whatever their goals.

In addition to face-to-face lessons, some teachers offer organ lessons online and some offer lessons in music theory, including tuition for the written papers of our organ playing Diplomas, either face-to-face, online or by correspondence. RCO Accredited Teachers offer:

• Organ tuition which is as flexible as you need.
• Face-to-face or online organ tuition, with theory lessons also offered face-to-face, online or by correspondence.
• Booking of lessons on a one-by-one basis—you are never asked to commit to a whole term or course of lessons.
• Carefully structured lessons to help you work towards an agreed goal, for example a church service, the attainment of a certain standard, fluency in playing the pedals, a concert or an examination.
• Suggestions to supplement your lessons with attendance at RCO Academy classes, events and courses
• Organ tuition, support and guidance for all forms of examination.
• Careful monitoring of your progress towards your personal objectives.
• An optional review with your organ teacher, at which you can reflect on and discuss your progress towards your goals, and set further targets for the future.

RCO Academy accredited teachers work to a well-established set of criteria. All have been subject to relevant background checks regarding qualifications and experience, and are DBS checked.

Organ students aged 19 and under also have the option of committing to the Junior Organists' scheme. Those in the scheme pay 15% less than the adult rate for lessons, up to a maximum of ₤49. Click here to request further details on our Junior Organists' Scheme.

RCO Register of Teachers

The RCO also maintains a list of its members who offer lessons privately.

Please note that the RCO Register of Teachers is an information service only. The RCO does not perform background checks on those listed, except for RCO qualifications: it does not check child protection or vulnerable adult matters, or in any way verify any claims such as non-RCO qualifications or experience.

As with all such listings and advertisements, potential students are therefore urged to make their own appropriate checks and precautions, such as seeking references and/or booking a trial lesson in the first instance.
